Your one stop shop for weird art and weird art accessories.

What is this? Actual recent art? Say it ain’t so!

Well. It is.

I have learned a few things about a few things thus far. Let’s list them shall we?

1) All materials (even broken ones) at state colleges are state owned. That means I can’t get a free violin scroll.

2) People just toss broken instruments at music stores when they aren’t worth fixing.

3) The shop keepers hold on to said instruments.

4) If your art project amuses said shop keeper, they are willing to give you said instrument in exchange for nothing but a picture when it’s done.

5) VINEGAR BITCH SLAPS THE FUCK OUT OF VIOLIN GLUE.

6) A tiny meat cleaver is the best tool for prying apart the joints. Opening knives? Pffff fuck that.

7) You will always have a meat cleaver that’s never been used. Find it.

8) Grind wheels are scary as FUCK.

And for those of you who have seen it, yes, it is inspired (one might even say totally ripped of) of this guy’s work. But don’t worry, I’m going to be making it my own.

Day two, you lot thought I forgot? HA! I totally did. Today you get a tree monster.

I figured I’d give this a try. It seems like fun and really good practice. Hopefully this will be a daily thing. I probably won’t do nearly as much with the back story because I’m super lazy, but I might every now and again.
So anyway. This is the first one. It’s your run of the mill Venus fly trap thing.

Look at that. It’s a fetus in a jar. And yes, I did include this in my portfolio to colleges.

BOOM. This is based off of a drawing I did a while back and the first actually finished sculpture in my series of boxers. I’m probably going to sand through the paint to get at all those nasty lumps and finger prints.

All of the below pictures were taken by the lovely woman that runs http://maquettemouse.tumblr.com/.

Thanks Betsy.

Self portrait for painting class. I’m really happy with it except for everything having to do with the hair. It’s also the first time I’ve worked with oils.

One of the assignments for my sculpture class. We had to make something that conveyed an emotion. I picked gluttony. It turned out pretty well except I have the habit of not mixing enough paint and there for end up with a lot of white spots because I can’t remember the right color.

Made from sculptamold with a wire frame. The little guy was made from plumbers epoxy. The base was styrofoam covered in sculptamold. Painted with acrylics and rub-and-buff.

The first in a line of boxers that I’m in the progress of making.

made from super sculpy cored with aluminum foil. The arms are supported by some thicker gauge wire.
